<description>Inspiration: Camp Oak Hill (COH) is a co-ed, overnight Christian summer camp and retreat center located one hour north of Raleigh in Oxford, NC. As a non-profit organization, they found themselves seeking a stronger visual aesthetic in promotional materials to leverage the awareness of camp in surrounding communities.

Challenge: Utilize their current brand, while emphasizing the Christ-centered, but friendship-building focus on children. With the previous in mind, I was asked to complete a donor card and insert, for pledge donations, as well as a flyer for promotion at local schools, churches, etc.

To learn more about Camp Oak Hill, visit their website.

Inspiration: Multiple Perspectives is my series that hones in on my relationship with other people in my life and how I view them or they view me. These two photographs are super personal, so I will not share their story; however, they are highly emotional and capture a moment in time when I was observing my place in their life.

<description>Inspiration: Jordan Jaked, a fellow Meredith alum and friend, created the idea for the Fashion Show after losing her mother to lung cancer in 2011. With her love of fashion and efforts to raise awareness, she partnered with the North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership, to raise funds from the event that go toward research, awareness and advocacy for the disease. Similar to Jaked, a close family member of my passed from lung cancer and I was thrilled to accept the challenge of assisting her in the design efforts for the show.

Challenge: Utilize the concept of "whiting out" in a black/white color system to design the promotional collateral for White Out Lung Cancer: the fashion show. This included a logo, two flyers: 8.5x11 and 11x17 along with a Facebook cover photo.

Read more about the event, the designers and their thoughts on the White Out Lung Cancer blog!

On a hike with a close friend of mine, I captured these beautiful instances of tree life interacting and the delicacies that can be found, when we stop for a little while.

<description>Pedro's is an existing restaurant located in Madison, Wi. With their current website, you can see they have a fun personality, are inspired by culture and have a large menu. With that said, I wanted to find a company and website that I could relate to. Therefore, I redesigned Pedro's Mexican Restaurant's website.

Inspiration: I was inspired by Hispanic and Southwestern culture which sand, sun, and full of "spicy" aesthetics. Therefore, I utilized a leather textured background, images of food and culture along with the addition of the chile peppers to add a fun flair.

Challenge: Redesign a website that already exists to learn the processes of website design, its function, and purpose.

<description>An extremely close relative of mine has Multiple Sclerosis and in my attempts to educate myself on this neurological disorder, I chose it as the topic of my educational poster design. With that said, I solely wanted to focus on the myelin sheath and the spinal cord, which is where MS attacks.

Inspiration: I chose the illustrative approach for this poster to execute and educate the audience on what actually occurs inside the body. The contrasting colors of the red, yellow and black emphasize the importance of MS and relate back to the body: blood and the pain of the disease.

Challenge: Design a poster that portrays a scientific or sequential process and illustrate that with information graphics.

<description>Inspiration: The Memphis Group was composed of Italian designers and architects who opposed the conformist idea of conventionalism in product design through shape, color, texture and pattern. Memphis was founded in 1981 by Ettore Sottsass where he used bright colors, unconventional shapes, stylized patterns and geometric shapes.

Challenge: Design a book cover to represent a style of art history that strongly influenced graphic design. Utilizing the elements of design and visual language of that period to convey meaning.

<description>In collaboration with three other design students, we designed a yearly calendar for 2011. I chose three months, November, December and January for my portion of the design. Research included finding inspirational poems and/or lyrics that we could relate to but would also resonate with the months we had chosen.

Inspiration: I was inspired by each of my poems/lyrics along with the visual scenery that I associate with each month: falling autumn leaves, frequent snow and chilly winter nights.

Challenge: Use the visual language of typography to set poems in a readable yet illustrative
manner in a functional space.

<description>Inspiration: A close friend of the family lives on dairy farm and I often find myself loving every minute spent there. I try and visit as often as possible, but I took this visit with a little more thought in mind.

I was looking through my lens in two ways: one being my admiration of love of animals and secondly, when glancing closer, the restrictions and rules we place upon them to adjust to our needs. In these photos, I wanted to capture the true essence in the duality of how cows function within our society and my love of the natural atmosphere that exists in the south.
